Ken Ireland raises over £1000!
AACC member Ken Ireland took over as president of Ayr Curling club at the recent AGM. Congratulations Ken!
In addition, Ken has been busy raising money for a great charity. Ken writes: "My thanks to Ayr & Alloway club members who generously donated to the charity cycle that I took part in on Sunday 4th September. The "Social Bite Fund" is a charity who fund the building of Social Bite Villages in Dundee and Glasgow to help tackle homelessness. In addition the Fund innovates new programmes to tackle the issue of unsuitable temporary accommodation. They also assist with employment and food distribution to vulnerable people.
The event started at Glasgow Warriors Scotstoun stadium and ended 66 miles later at BT Murrayfield, where I consumed a large cheeseburger! This year's target was £1m and to date the Charity has raised £750,000 between donors and cyclists. My personal target was £500 but finished with £1030 which was in the top ten individual fundraisers. As a consequence, Sir Chris Hoy personally signed the top ten medals."
Great acheivement Ken - well done!
