The Club has now completed its series of games in the Ross Low Trophy for 2019 and unfortunately for our squad of Neil Beattie, Jim Nelson, Ed Baines, Alex Thomson, Willie Scott, John MacLeod, Charlie Steele and Allan Chapman it is the end of the competition for another year.
On Monday 4th Nov a Club rink of skip Neil, Alex, Jim and Willie came up against a Dalmellington rink skipped by David McIntyre in the final round robin match of the competition. A&A were playing for a bit of pride having lost their previous 2 matches against strong rinks from Troon Portland and Tarbolton.
The game was closely fought with the lead changing hands on several occasions. Dalmellington scored a 2 on the penultimate end to give them the lead at 5-4. In a tight final end it appeared that A&A would at least gain the one shot for a peel however a missed take out by the Dalmellington skip allowed Neil to draw with his final stone and hence gain a fine 6-5 victory. Pride restored!
Many thanks however to all squad members for participating and ensuring that Ayr and Alloway continues to support such competitions held at the ice rink when over the years the number of club entries has been declining. Well done guys – and better luck next year!
