On a spooky Halloween night we had our annual match with the Country Club which as always was played with great spirit.
Our first team of Dorothy Dawson, Liz Tait, Allan Chapman and David Gray were treated to a very scarily tight match and wondered what the devil was beguiling us when after 5 close ends we found ourselves down 2 shots to 4. However we overcame this fright by tricking four shots at both of the remaining ends to secure a rather flattering win.
In the second game our team of Sheila Campbell, Alistair Tyre, John MacLeod and Bella Kennedy spooked their opponents by taking 5 shots at the first end. The Country Club were not bewitched by this and hallowed a fight back to be trailing by one shot playing the last end. Bella and her guissers were not to be denied however and with their final party piece won the last end to clinch the spoils.
Following the match we all gathered for scones, cakes and witches brew, which was very welcome. …and some great chat too. It is always a very enjoyable fixture. You will be hoping it does not fall on Halloween for a while.
