The best turnout for several years, made for an excellent Pairs competition. The standard was generally high, with some closely fought games.

Bella Kennedy and Ronnie Wilson were on top form, with a win over Alan Richmond and Linda Wison in round 1. But only just – with shots even, it went down to ends to decide the winner. In the semi-final, they just clinched it in a high quality match against Charlie Steele and Liz Tait. And so to the final, where they were up against the in-form Carol Simpson and Allan Chapman. Again it was a superb match, and with Carol and Allan leading 4-2 going into the last end without the hammer, it was Bella who remained cool, to remove Carol’s final stone and lie two for a peel. With Bella and Ronnie having three ends to Carl and Allan’s two, they were declared champions.

Thanks to Ken Gray who was in charge of the competiton and checked the teams completed their ends within the 1 hour time limit.
