On January 8th Ayr and Alloway competed in the Province Medal represented by two rinks, the first skipped by David Gray and the second by Alex Thomson.
The first game was against a strong Gangrels Rink skipped by Robert Boyd. After an exchange of singles in the first few ends we scored a four to give us an 8-3 lead. Further scores one and three resulted in a convincing 12-3 win. Our rink consisted of David as skip, Jim Nelson, Willie Scott and Scott McAndrew.
The second game was against Crosshill. Singles in the first three ends followed by a score of three then one gave us a commanding lead of 7-0 after five ends. Crosshill fought back with scores of three and two which resulted in a 7-5 win to Ayr and Alloway. Our rink consisted of Alex as skip, Charlie Steele, John MacLeod and Alan Richmond.
Consequently our combined ‘ shots up’ total was eleven. A respectable effort but not enough to topple Dundonald who with a total of 17 were worthy winners of the Province Medal.
