On Thursday 10 January two rinks from the Club were engaged in our annual inter-club friendly match with the Gangrels. At the conclusion of this fixture last year the then Gangrels President noted that the taking part and good curling fellowship were more important than the score and this year both A & A rinks would wholeheartedly endorse his remarks. Perhaps the Gangrels were smarting after suffering a comprehensive defeat at the hands of A & A earlier in the week in the Province Medal but both rinks were certainly in good form. Suffice to say that it was not a night to remember for either of our rinks and the scores can remain with the participants!
For the record rink A was skipped by Bella Kennedy assisted by Alistair Tyre, Ken Gray and Hazel Steele. Their opposition comprised Richard Morrison, Ronnie Peat, Bob Cherry and Francis McCrossan. The other game (which was equally one-sided!) saw the rink of Alan McKinlay, Wallace Allan, Murray Hutchison and Dorothy Dawson take on Robert Boyd, a traitor in Peter Reynolds (!), Peter Galloway and Gordon Todd.
This is always a most enjoyable fixture, as well as being a longstanding one, and despite this year’s results both clubs look forward to renewing hostilities next year – though perhaps there will require to be a change in the A & A personnel!
