Ayr and Alloway entered the Ross low, which consists of two sections with four rinks in each. There is a round robin to determine who goes through to the semi finals.
In the first game, AACC played against Galston with Neil Beattie skipping and lost. The second and third games were skipped by Charlie Steele, with a fine win against a tough Tarbolton rink. The final game was against Troon Portland, which was a close contest until the Portland skip played an excellent full draw on very swingy ice, to cut AACC’s four stones out completely. Charlie was unable to clip it out, and Portland ran out easy winners in the end. The qualifiers from our section were Galston and Tarbolton.
Other players featuring in these games were: Geoff Barber, Jim Nelson, Ken Gray and Ed Baines.
