eglinton jugThe magnificent Eglinton Jug Trophy is played for in October each year, as a straight knock-out competition at Ayr Ice Rink, with teams from all over Ayrshire taking part.

Ayr & Alloway Curling Club entered two rinks; Rink 1 was skipped by Jim Nelson and Rink 2 by Charlie Steele. Jim lost 7-5 to a strong Gangrels rink. Charlie had a comfortable first round win against Auchenames by 14-1.

Encouraged by their success,  Charlie tackled Dalry Union in the second round. Everyone played well, and with peels going into the last end, it was anyone’s game. Sadly we were pipped by one shot, losing 5-4. Excellent curling at a high level.
